For Expo 2020 Dubai, AIM delivered a momentous program of 360-degree projections and live productions that amazed audiences and transformed Al Wasl Dome into an iconic entertainment destination.
AIM’s entertainment was orchestrated around Expo’s vision ‘Connecting Minds and Creating the Future’. From concept to completion, each show achieved creative excellence and took visitors on an inspiring, emotive journey.
Over the six months of Expo 2020, AIM presented 435 hours of bespoke projections and theatrical productions in the round. Programming reflected Al Wasl’s mood – from daybreak until after midnight, seven days a week. Highlights included:
• By day, contemplative soundscapes utilising the 27:1 surround sound system
• After sunset,
o Themed 360-degree projection showcases: Cosmos, Expressions, Nature
o Six theatrical productions synced to 360-degree projections
o Why? The Musical – directed by award winners Shekhar Kapur and A.R. Rahman
o Major Concerts: Sami Yusuf, Omar Khairat
o Christmas, Diwali and New Year’s Eve Celebrations
o The Closing Ceremony Projections for performances by A-list talent Christina Aguilera, Norah Jones and Yo-Yo Ma.
