Masterclass Cultivating Happiness through Live Events
Connection

Spazio Risonanze 2 / ROOM 2

Tahira Endean, Head of Program, IMEX

We are in the business of creating spaces where people belong from corporate conferences and incentives to festivals and more. It will be an experience ranging from enjoyable to joyous. Organizations invest in events to catalyse positive business results, from greater collaboration to increased profits. Destinations host events to showcase the greatness of their cities and countries. It all comes back to participants finding happiness - a sense of productivity and belonging - in their experiences and we will explore this rapidly providing memorable and applicable takeaway moments throughout. We attend events to learn, find joy and belonging and nurture ourselves and return with this to our organizations and homes. Event designers have the power to build environments and narrative arcs that deliver emotional engagement. If we don't care, who does? Governments who are on the World Happiness Index, organizations that invest billions in wellbeing programs and individuals who want to live their best lives - we all have to be interested in this to build a world we want to live in!

The low cards are the ‘low hanging fruits’, things that are easy to do and apply. The higher up the tree the more challenging the solutions are. People can pick a card and talk about it while sitting in the bean bags and cushions. Participants can also hang new cards in the tree if they want to share their idea, solution or innovation.

We must transform the event industry towards a Netflix model: Always-On Events.
Event industry/technology

Sala Petrassi / ROOM 1

Matthijs Otto, Founder & CEO, Krowden (formerly NetworkTables)

How do you, as an event organizer, as a client, brand, company, organization, prepare for the LIVE future? Then you have to start thinking in Always-On Events. Visitors will become members, tickets become subscriptions and you form communities instead of guest lists.

Matthijs Otto has been advocating for a future-proof events industry for years. Event organizers are used to organizing expensive events and then bringing together as many visitors as possible in one day. He says the events industry needs to transition to “Always-On Events” where members can attend multiple events throughout the year as part of a community. This is actually the same as a large conference, but spread over times that suit participants best. Visitors become members and tickets become subscriptions, which is based on how modern consumers use content platforms like Netflix and Spotify. In this interactive keynote, he shares cases from communities that have grown to 60.000+ members with this vision and shares key take-aways, business models and how to achieve the same with your events.
