The German Garden at the International Horticultural Exhibition Floriade Expo 2022 combines gardening and futuristic vision. Through playful exhibits, visitors discover the importance of community.
The German Garden combines modern horticulture and a sustainable pavilion. Together, they represent a vision of an environmentally-friendly city of the future: a place for plants, insects and humans to co-exist. This vision includes climate-resistant flora, a roof garden with a variety of plant life. All of this is built around a two-storey, cubist wooden pavilion that gives the appearance of an unfinished structure, a living ecosystem within a garden. Trees that withstand harsh climatic conditions, as well as new plant communities complete the setup. Inside, four themed rooms feature physical interactions for people of all ages. Here, points can be collected with individualised RFID bracelets. After enjoying the playful yet educational exhibits, the collected icons are displayed in the Main Show. The collected points of each visitor are visualised as their individual vision of the city of the future, while the growing community is created from the points of all visitors.
