The Event

The second edition of the spectacular urban downhill race in Genoa, the only European stop. Riders speed through the historic city center in an extreme descent from the hills to the sea.

The Red Bull Genova Cerro Abajo event pursues strategic objectives on three fronts.
First, it aims to strengthen Red Bull’s image as a pioneer of extreme and innovative sports, generating massive global media coverage through live broadcasts and social content. The goal is to increase brand awareness in Italy and Europe by leveraging the spectacular Urban Downhill format.
Second, the project has a strong territorial promotion impact. Genoa is showcased as a unique global stage: its creuze, staircases, and natural elevation changes become an integral part of the track, presenting a dynamic and adventurous side of the city.
Finally, the objective is to maximize audience engagement. The event delivers an adrenaline-filled, accessible spectacle that combines high athletic performance with urban architecture, stimulating community interest and offering a visually and athletically compelling experience.

The creative idea behind Red Bull Cerro Abajo is the transposition of the legendary South American Urban Downhill format into a European context, particularly inspired by the iconic race in Valparaíso. Red Bull Italy successfully brought this extreme format to Genoa, creating a historic and unique event on the continent.
The event is a spectacular urban downhill competition, where the world’s top athletes race against the clock on a technical course over 2 km long with nearly 300 meters of elevation, starting from Monte Peralto and finishing at Largo della Zecca, in the city center.
The greatest innovation lies in the successful adaptation of the South American formula—characterized by vertiginous tracks and large crowds—to the complex and captivating urban fabric of Genoa.
The track is a masterpiece of sports engineering, integrating historic alleys, staircases, “creuze” and specially designed jumps, all woven into the city’s architecture, making the spectacle even more thrilling.
