The Chess Olympiad is a biennial international tournament where teams from around the world compete for global recognition. As the largest event in the world of chess, the Olympiad holds a prestigious position. The 2024 edition was particularly significant, marking the 100th anniversary of FIDE, the International Chess Federation. This milestone was celebrated with a range of special side events, adding further prestige and visibility to the Olympiad.
Our main objectives were to promote the event on a global scale, ensure broad accessibility for participants, and engage as many spectators as possible. In addition, we aimed to highlight chess as an exciting and inclusive sport, making it more visible and attractive to wider audiences worldwide.

At the 45th Chess Olympiad, creativity and innovation played a key role in enhancing both the participant experience and the event’s environmental responsibility. One unique solution was the production of 750 chess tables made entirely from paper, offering visual appeal, branding opportunities, and an eco-friendly alternative to traditional wooden or plastic tables. The tables prominently displayed the tournament’s visual identity, creating a fully customized and striking playing environment. Accompanying scoreboards were also made of paper, reinforcing sustainability. This approach reduced the ecological footprint while remaining practical, as boards were easy to replace, move, and recycle. A locker area for players, constructed entirely from paper boxes, provided a simple and effective storage solution during matches. Paper-based signage was installed throughout the venue, and measures were taken to collect and recycle plastic waste.
