The Event

The 2024 World Aquatics Swimming Championships (25m) in Budapest hosted 2,100 athletes from 195 countries, celebrating international excellence in aquatic sports in a world-class environment.

The 2024 World Aquatics Swimming Championships (25m) were held between 10-15 December 2024 in Budapest, welcoming 2,100 athletes from 195 countries. The event celebrated international excellence in aquatic sports, providing a high-performance environment where 93 record-breaking achievements highlighted the competitive spirit. Hosted at the iconic Duna Aréna and surrounding venues, the Championships aimed to deliver a world-class experience for athletes, spectators, and partners alike. Key objectives included promoting global engagement with swimming, enhancing Hungary’s international sporting profile, and implementing sustainable and innovative solutions in event management. Special focus was placed on youth engagement, accessibility, and ensuring a lasting legacy for both the sport and the local community. With exceptional attendance, global broadcast reach, and flawless execution, the event significantly exceeded its strategic and operational goals.

A key creative focus of our project was to showcase Hungary’s iconic treasures, particularly the Chain Bridge, by integrating them into every major element of the event. Following this concept, the bridge motif featured across all key visual and ceremonial components.
A major innovation was the podium built on water – a 1:7 indoor replica of the Chain Bridge – used for all 45 medal ceremonies. A specially designed interactive digital foosball table in the Athletes’ Lounge provided both recreation and visual engagement, with a built-in LCD screen displaying motivational visuals, dynamic animations, and the rippling World Aquatics logo between games.
The Athletes’ Lounge itself was designed to support well-being and community. Healthy grab-and-go snacks, herbal teas, and coffee were offered, while branded bean bags facilitated informal networking and provided a comfortable space for rest between competitions.
