The Event

In 2024, Cascais hosted the XXVII ANOC General Assembly, bringing 1,000 delegates from 195 NOCs and 280 organizations to discuss the future of the Olympic movement.

The primary objective of the General Assembly is to foster dialogue, knowledge-sharing, and collaboration among National Olympic Committees (NOCs). Acknowledging that each NOC faces both shared and unique challenges and opportunities, the event serves as a unique platform for collective growth through the exchange of best practices, experiences, and innovative solutions. It is a strategic forum that strengthens the global Olympic network, promotes solidarity among nations, and advances the sustainable development of the Olympic Movement.
In addition to the ANOC General Assembly, the ANOC Awards 2024 celebrated outstanding achievements and contributions across a diverse range of sports. The event honoured individuals, teams, and organisations that exemplified excellence, innovation, and dedication to the Olympic movement. This year’s edition also recognised exceptional performances at the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games,

With participants from 195 different countries, translation was one of the biggest challenges of this event. Through an artificial intelligence platform, the event was translated in real-time into 60 languages, providing participants with an innovative experience.

To manage and control the voting process and speaking order during the General Assembly, a system comprising 250 microphones and an integrated electronic voting system was implemented. Centrally managed by the President of the Assembly, ensured orderly participation, transparency, and efficient decision-making throughout the event.

The event’s branding merged the energy of the Olympic movement with the power of Portugal’s waves. A consistent visual identity was maintained throughout all communications, leveraging the graphic elements developed specifically for the event.

One of the biggest challenges in experience design was transforming the event’s main venue to accommodate the privacy of the General Assembly meeting.
