The Event

International literary festival that turned Maricá into an immersive literary city, blending Ziraldo, cultural diversity, and technology to attract 400,000 visitors in 10 days.

FLIM 2024 aimed to transform the Maricá International Literary Festival into a national and international reference, positioning the city as a cultural and tourist hub in Brazil. More than a book fair, it sought to create an immersive, multimedia experience blending literature, cultural diversity, and technological innovation. The goal was to attract and engage diverse audiences — from children to renowned writers, from municipal school students to international tourists — with large-scale infrastructure, plural programming, and unique activations. The expected impact included enhancing Maricá’s cultural reputation, boosting tourism, stimulating the creative economy, and reinforcing social inclusion. After the event, participants were expected to carry emotional memories linked to reading, to perceive Maricá as an innovative literary destination, and to connect with a sense of belonging, turning the city into a symbol of a possible utopia.

The festival paid tribute to Ziraldo, bringing iconic characters such as Menino Maluquinho and Turma do Pererê to life through 3D sculptures and scenic installations that served as meeting and interaction points. The Immersion Tent stood out as a sensory innovation, transporting 120 people per session into an audiovisual journey through Maricá’s history and identity. FLIMzinha created a playful universe for more than 30,000 children, combining literature, theater, and interactive games. The Technology Space connected the event to the digital world with augmented reality, live broadcasts, and videocasts. Urban activations like the Magic Book and the Literary Circle built anticipation before opening. The result was a festival that combined spectacle, inclusion, and innovation, becoming a cultural
