Global 6 km charity run from April 28 – May 23, 2025. BWT donated €6 per person. All together 10.291 participants in 35 countries collected more than € 60.000 for 9 new drinking water wells in Africa.
World Water Day on March 22 is an annual initiative to tackle the global water crisis. Two years ago, we decided to use this day as an opportunity to raise awareness and showcase BWT’s vision and mission — particularly our commitment to providing those in need with access to safe, clean drinking water by building wells in African countries.
That’s how the idea for our 6 km charity run was born. This year, from April 28 to May 23, we brought together BWT employees, partners, athletes, families, and friends from around the world to participate in the run — creating a visible pink wave of support and raising funds for new wells in Africa. For each participant, BWT donated €6 to the b.waterMISSION project.
In 2025, a total of 10,291 Change Makers across the globe united, covering more than 60,000 kilometers. Our running challenge was more than just a run — it became a global movement, proving the incredible impact that can be achieved when many come together for a common purpose.
” “How far would you walk for water?
It’s easy to take safe drinking water for granted. While most of us hardly have to go further than the nearest tap in the kitchen, more than 2 billion people worldwide still lack access to clean drinking water. According to the UN, 500 million of them live in Africa. Imagine waking up every morning, knowing that your first task is to walk 6 kilometers and carry 20 kilos of water back home.
BWT and its partners and friends around the world made a commitment to raise awareness by running or walking these symbolic 6 kilometers — collecting donations to fund new drinking wells in Africa.
So we joined forces and gathered as many people as possible to take part in our charity run. As a pink symbol of participation, every participant received a branded, sustainable drinking bottle.
