Croatia Airlines marked its 35th anniversary with a world-first 3D mapping on a full-scale Airbus A220, celebrating its new fleet and identity with visuals that blended history and innovation.

Croatia Airlines wanted to celebrate its 35th anniversary with an event that would both honor its national role and demonstrate its forward-looking vision. Having introduced a redesigned corporate identity and a new, more efficient and environmentally friendly Airbus A220 fleet, the airline sought a striking and innovative way to showcase this milestone. Projection mapping was selected because it could transform the aircraft itself into a spectacular storytelling canvas – something never seen before in the region. By projecting visuals of history, innovation, and national pride directly onto the new A220, the airline merged heritage and future into one powerful, emotionally resonant journey. The result impressed stakeholders, inspired pride, generated international media attention, and positioned Croatia Airlines as a modern, innovative carrier in European aviation.

Instead of a traditional gala, Creative Pro and Visual Europe Group created the world’s first 3D projection mapping show on a commercial aircraft fuselage. The Airbus A220 became a 35-meter canvas for animations that fused Croatia’s landscapes, the airline’s history, and visions of the future. Innovative solutions included a custom distortion-balancing technique to align projections on curved surfaces, repurposing aircraft cleaning platforms as projection towers (due to airport restrictions), and real-time media server adjustments. The result: a seamless, never-before-seen visual spectacle that transformed aviation into art.
