The Event

For Heidelberg Materials JCP launched the world’s first carbon-captured, climate-neutral cement in Brevik – a milestone for global CCS and the future of sustainable construction.

The event marked the launch of Heidelberg Materials’ world-first carbon-captured, climate-neutral cement in Brevik. The main goal was to position Heidelberg Materials as a global pioneer in sustainable construction and CCS technology, reinforcing its leadership in the green transition. By gathering government leaders, royalty, EU officials, employees, local communities, and international stakeholders, the company aimed to showcase the breakthrough technology and highlight its role in Europe’s first full CCS value chain. Participants were expected to gain knowledge of the cement’s climate impact, understand the scale of innovation, and see Heidelberg Materials as a trusted leader in decarbonizing construction. The desired outcome was stronger relationships with decision-makers, pride and engagement among employees, and increased awareness worldwide. The event should leave participants inspired to support, partner with, and advocate for the company’s mission toward a net-zero future.

To reflect the world-first innovation, we created a launch experience as bold as the achievement itself. All guests were brought to the Brevik plant, two hours south of Oslo, to truly see and “touch” the solution. The factory was under immense pressure to finalize the CCS facility while running 24/7 cement production and phasing in CO2 capture. To avoid disturbing operations, we built a custom glass pavilion on a 91 x 30 m floating barge, housing Norway’s most advanced event tent with tailored décor and technical setup. The concept combined industrial scale with visionary storytelling, symbolizing both local roots and global impact. Each day carried its own narrative: political and cultural opening at the Opera, royal and EU-level inauguration in Brevik, and community-focused gatherings. This creative solution allowed us to be at the very heart of the innovation without disrupting production, while delivering an unique and world-class event experience.
