The Event

King Willem-Alexander opens De Nederlandsche Bank’s renovated HQ, marking a new chapter with an open, inclusive event reflecting DNB’s mission: transparent, sustainable, and Open To All.

A New Chapter for DNB

The official reopening of De Nederlandsche Bank’s (DNB) headquarters marked a defining moment in the institution’s evolution. It celebrated the completion of a world-class renovation and underscored a broader strategic shift toward transparency, accessibility, and public engagement.

By inviting a diverse audience to explore the bank’s new home and interactive exhibition, DNB took a significant step toward demystifying central banking and fostering a more inclusive relationship with society. The event was successful in positioning DNB as a modern institution that is open, approachable, and deeply committed to serving the public interest.

Moving forward, DNB aims to build on this momentum through continued public programs, educational outreach, and stakeholder engagement. Solidifying its role as a trusted guardian of the Dutch economy and a “bank for all.”

The reopening of DNB’s renovated headquarters began with a lively talk show inside, where guests from across the country learned about the bank’s past, present, and future. Over 600 guests then gathered outside to witness the official opening ceremony. The King arrived and toured the new exhibition, De Nieuwe Schatkamer, before moving to the courtyard.

The ceremony opened with a video journey through the building’s history, accompanied by live violin music. Vertical dancers descended the façade as the building’s lights came alive, creating a stunning visual display.

The highlight was a CGI video where the King symbolically unveiled the building by “removing” a virtual cover. This video was streamed live and shared online, emphasizing DNB’s transformation into an open and accessible institution for everyone.
