The Event

The pandemic called for a new kind of UvA University Day: so we created a 3-day online alumni festival with 11 broadcasts, which tapped into a new, younger and international target group.

In creating the concept, we started from the function and role of a university in a person’s life. It’s a place where they learned, grew up and developed. A time when they made friends and explored the city of Amsterdam. After their studies, everyone flew out and ended up in great positions and places all over the world. But that time at the UvA always brings back memories.
We wanted to evoke that feeling again by launching a virtual place where you can go 24/7 for relevant knowledge and inspiration and where you can meet each other.
The UvA is opening its doors to all alumni: UvA Open was born.
We have transformed the daily programme into a week full of interesting lectures and reflections. We started each day with an opening and ended the day with our own talk show.
We used digital means such as an online event platform and called in people for interaction.
This event was used to launch the new Alumni Platform UvA Bridge. We developed the new name, logo and corporate identity.
