The Event

A theatrical manifesto of our time: 7 nights, 7 plays, 7 genres — each raising a new question, uniting audiences in reflection and celebrating the diversity of contemporary art.

“Inter arma silent Musae.” — “Among arms, the Muses are silent.”
For four years Ukraine has endured the largest war of the 21st century. The enemy seeks to drain us with fear and doubt. But in the capital under fire, we declare the opposite: the Muses are not silent — they roar louder than ever.
UNIT.City is home to the nation’s brightest engineers, who build technologies to defend and sustain Ukraine. Yet as a national think tank, we carry responsibility for the minds of our people — to protect not only borders, but imagination, courage, and belief.
That is why we created “The 7”: seven nights, seven performances, seven statements. Not just theatre, but a manifesto of resilience. A reminder that culture does not stop at sirens. It connects, heals, and fuels the strength to continue. Its purpose: to keep Ukrainians believing in themselves, in each other, and in the future of their country.

The creative concept of “The 7” was to curate not just performances, but living stories from across Ukraine — voices of resilience, provocation, and artistic freedom. Our team reviewed dozens of plays nationwide to bring the most exceptional to Kyiv: the theatre from a frontline city, whose building endured occupation and shelling, yet whose actors never stopped performing; the underground troupe breaking academic conventions with radical, socially charged, immersive productions; the veterans’ theatre, where soldiers scarred by war transform trauma into art. We showcased not only drama but also experimental ballet blending movement, light, and music, and even rock opera where theatre meets amplified sound. Each night was enriched by immersive pre-show performances — for example, guests were escorted into a play by armed actors with dogs, heightening tension and atmosphere before the curtain even rose.
