A unique 3h choreographic performance in which neurology professors of 12 countries see their patients’ lives from darkness to successful treatment, awakening doctors’ empathy via artistic language.
Neurons, known as the strings of the soul, are the strands that conduct nerve impulses. When damaged, the body loses sensation and struggles to support muscle and organ function. Those who have never experienced a neural disorder do not understand the “darkness” that people with neural disorders live in, how it feels even on a daily level.
Over the years, even doctors, focused on technical treatment, lose the empathy that is often as necessary as treatment.
The event aimed to convey what life is like for those with neural disorders and how these challenges manifest on a daily basis. Through a unique artistic language and 3h choreographic performance to show what human life is like if you are unable to fully feel, touch and taste. At the same time, it showed neurology professors from 12 countries how they can change the lives of people with neuronal problems. It also sought to awaken empathy, often lacking in healthcare professionals, and promote international medical cooperation.
The event comprised 3 parts.
1.Life in the dark. Food, transformed into neurons floating in water, was performed, and guests dined in darkness. The food lacked flavour. Someone’s plate falls, audio sounds are deliberately distorted, hard to hear. This was to depict neural problems even at a domestic level.
2.Transformation. Through dance, sound and light projection, the brain’s transformation was depicted. Waiters wore space helmets with minimal light gaps. Flavours appeared in the food, sound clarity returned to the hall, and distractions were reduced.
3.Life in vivid colour. Professors received a gift of food, design, and art, in gratitude for the most precious gift they give to patients – to feel life in vivid colours.
Guest empathy was ignited through a unique artistic language in which food, plating, design, handmade costumes, headwear, multimedia sounds, video mappings, musical scores, 360-degree neural projections, interactive tables, and animations became a unified scenography
