The Event

The Austrian Expo Pavilion showcases Austria’s cultural heritage and innovation in an unprecedented way – with an interactive and immersive musical journey, where visitors compose the future.

The Austrian Pavilion at Expo 2025 aims to inspire a new perspective on how we shape the future together.
Rather than designing it in a linear, technical sense, Austria invites visitors to compose it. Much like a piece of music, layered, participatory, and emotionally resonant. The aim is to present Austria not only as a country rich in cultural heritage, especially classical music, but as a forward-thinking nation full of innovative spirit and global responsibility. Through immersive experiences, as well as participatory and interactive exhibits, guests are encouraged to reflect on their role in creating a better world. They engage with Austria’s commitment to the UN Sustainable Development Goals in a creative, intuitive way. Visitors should leave feeling inspired and connected. Not only to Austria but to the collective task of shaping the future. The pavilion aims to change perceptions: Austria is not just the land of music, it is a land of ideas, progress, and hope.

The Austrian Pavilion impresses with a unique creative concept: the future is not designed, it is composed.
Drawing on Austria’s rich musical heritage, the entire exhibition is structured like a musical journey: from classical roots to visionary innovation.
The centerpiece is the use of music as both metaphor and medium, guiding visitors through an immersive and emotional narrative. Innovative solutions elevate the experience: a grand piano and a historic chandelier set the stage for a journey from tradition into the future. Visitors explore Austrias ideas through games and edutainment and can even become part of the exhibition by turning selfies into stylized portraits. Interactive installations turn SDGs into musical instruments with which AI composes unique soundscapes from visitor input. The blend of historic artefacts, playful edutainment, and participatory technology creates a multi-sensory experience that evolves from tradition to future-thinking.
