The Event

The Olympic Qualification Series is a new, tradition-creating initiative of the International Olympic Committee, which pits the best of city sports against each other.

OQS Budapest served as the official qualifier for the Paris Olympics, showcasing four sports: BMX, breakdance, skateboard and climbing. Held in the heart of Budapest, the event spanned over 30,000 square meters of beautifully landscaped grounds, dotted with ancient trees, and attracted more than 60,000 visitors over four days. The event was free for guests, aiming to raise public awareness about the significance of sports and highlight alternative sports that have achieved global recognition, earning their place in the Olympics. The organizers aimed to engage a younger audience, as the sports featured have consistently appealed to younger demographics in the past. By focusing on dynamic and accessible sports, they hoped to connect with this target group worldwide. The festival offered over 40 activities related to its theme, allowing attendees to explore various similar sports. The competitions were broadcast live across five continents and in more than 150 countries.

At the event, all four sports were broadcast live on television. To ensure that each sport’s schedule was fully shown, the programs were arranged to minimize overlap, allowing fans to catch every event. At the venue, we set up giant LED walls connected by a coordinated circuit. This allowed us to broadcast the competition live from one location to another. Additionally, we carefully selected supplementary programs to cater to all age groups, ensuring there was something for everyone. We also physically linked the sports venues with these activities to provide visitors with continuous entertainment.
