The Event

In the UNESCO headquarters, the ceremony honored 100 years of AIPS by celebrating and rewarding Sports Journalists during the industry’s most iconic and followed event: the Paris 2024 Olympics.

The goals of the ceremony organized by FREE EVENT for AIPS – UNESCO were:
• strengthen relations with global institutions, international sports journalists, and worldwide partners through a show that enhances the history of the association and the essential role of sports journalism.
• celebrate and reward the target of international journalists in the prestigious context of the Paris 2024 Olympics, assigning them the “star” role they usually talk about during sports events.
• celebrate the centenary of AIPS in the iconic UNESCO headquarters, the UN specialized agency promoting world peace and security through international cooperation in education, arts, sciences and culture.

The main creative idea was to capitalize on a unique opportunity: to reward international Sports Journalists during the most iconic, historic, and globally followed sporting event. The goal was to give them the relevance normally reserved for athletes in an iconic, closed-off place, to assure more prestige to the moment and to help strengthen the relationships between the target, the association, the partners and the global institutions.
During the ceremony, everything was focused on celebrating the essential role of Sporting Journalism in history: from the meeting with French President Macron to the video-photographic collection of the Association’s history, the relevance of the speakers on stage (such as the French Minister of Sport), the awards given by 17 legends of the Olympics and the symbolic opening from the center of a boxing ring.
