UK – Frost fair revival at Broadgate
Frost Fair 200 aimed to turn back time to 1814, when frost fairs were held during the period known as the Little Ice Age when the River Thames froze over.
Guests of Frost Fair 200 were able to play games of ping pong and giant chess, while live performances from Gandini jugglers and Guildhall School of Music & Drama musicians all formed part of the night’s proceedings.
Roaming stilt walkers, snowball sprites and other acts also performed throughout the night.
Samantha Rush, head of marketing, communications and events at Broadgate, said: “Frost Fair 200 saw the City’s workers and families come out in their hundreds on a Monday night to celebrate the bicentenary of the last River Thames Frost Fair. We are very much looking forward to working with the City of London Corporation and Cheapside Initiative again soon to celebrate more of London’s unique historical events.”
