UK – Airbnb’s floating house sets sail along the river Thames

The quirky vessel – bringing new meaning to the term ‘houseboat’ – was unveiled as part of a stunt by home-sharing rental website Airbnb. And it is even expected to welcome guests for overnight stays.

airbnbAirbnb has revealed its latest London listing – a floating property that comprises two bedrooms, a living room, a working bathroom and even a garden complete with real grass, a doghouse and an apple tree.

For a week, the home, which took four months to build, will sail through local neighbourhoods while hosting community events and overnight stays – before opening its doors to a competition winner on the evening of May 22nd.

The unique project is in celebration of new home-sharing rules in London, which mean that home-sharers can earn an income equivalent to a 15% payrise by hosting their property on Airbnb for seven days a month.
