SPAIN – Wine, urban art and cuisine at the ‘Streets of Colour’
Street art seems to be abandoning the marginality of the walls and shutters of shops to take big positions in the most important places of the city. We saw that a few weeks ago in the action of J&B y Boamistura in Barley Market and this time it was Campo Viejo who brought the colour and expressiveness of their wines to the streets of the capital of Spain.
Within the action ‘Campo Viejo Streets of Colour‘, the third phase of this project about wine, that began last April, took place at Palacio de Santa Barbara. Contemporary artists Okuda and Remed created the first sculpture inspired by the wines of La Rioja. It was a six-foot-tall piece in the middle of the vineyards in Logroño.
The second phase of this project moved to London in May, where the brand organized a gastronomic feast in which it was created a ‘live-painting’ work through art sculptures and a large mural in the cultural center SouthBank Centre.
Last September it was the turn of Madrid. Again, Okuda and Remed, together with 3TTMan and Nano4814, transformed Palacio Santa Barbara, both outside and inside. The gates of its facade were turned into a colourful mural that caught the attention of passers-by who stopped to watch the artists work.
Inside, gardens and halls were filled with colour with an avant-garde art exhibition. The main room was a tribute to the red of the brand with a huge geometric mural. The second room was devoted to pink, with recycled materials, bottles and barrels. The last room was dedicated to white, with another large mural, to which participants could give their contribution painting the blank spaces.
Wine, food and art attracted 1,000 visitors in this pop-up space in the center of Madrid. During the weekend, attendees could stop by at Palacio of Santa Barbara to enjoy the exhibition and get to know something more about wine.
