SPAIN – Loads of powder to showcase the history of the most famous Valencian celebration
In Valencia, the agency Publips Serviceplan organized an event using lots of gunpowder and fireworks, the main ingredients of the famous Fallas celebration, to present their application.
It all started with an idea: the city had to make more noise than ever to defend this application. So on 29th February, the city hall square hosted a celebration with more than 100,000 detonations, using new techniques and controlled by digital systems and featuring a finale that shook the entire city.
The event was broadcast by Periscope, new star in event broadcasting and viralization.
The show began by playing the beating of a heart using detonations, illustrating the passion that Valencians put in their most famous celebration, called Fallas. Then the show alluded to the importance of fire, recreating colors and sounds effects through a sea of flames.
The importance of music, present in all celebrations, was simulated using detonations following the rhythm of the popular song ´We will rock you´. Colored smoke used in the explosions drew flowers and a tribute was made to the colorful Fallas monuments (paper structures which are burned at the end of the celebration).
