PORTUGAL – Red Bull Air Race goes back to Porto in September

Ten years after its debut, Red Bull Air Race World Championship will be back to Portugal and will animate the banks of the Douro River on 2-3rd September. Porto is the destination of the sixth stage of the international aviation competition.

The Red Bull Air Race debuted in Portugal in 2007 and the destination was kept in the calendar until 2009. More than one million spectators were present during the two days of the event, registering a record of public.

The return of the competition to Porto, which is also the city that will welcome this year’s edition of the EuBea Festival on 15-18th November, was well anticipated and Erich Wolf, managing director of the Red Bull Air Race GmbH, did not hide his enthusiasm: “We are very excited about the return of the Red Bull Air Race to Portugal, which is one of the favorite stages of the public and the drivers. This year the calendar will evolve from success to success, with each stage taking on special significance, whether it will be the history of the sport or a premiere in a unique setting”.

This year, the World Aviation Championship maintains is divided into two categories: one for Master Class and one for Challenger Class. In total, there are eight stages and the competition has already started on February 10-11th in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. It will continue in San Diego on April 15-16th, Chiba, Japan, on June 3-4th, Budapest, Kazan, Porto, Lausitzring and it will finish in Indianapolis on 14-15th October.
