HUNGARY – CASE STUDY: FROM EMPTY HANGAR TO AWARD-WINNING IMMERSIVE EVENT
How Visual Europe Group transformed a blank canvas into a next-generation event experience
The most compelling events often begin with a challenge—and for Visual Europe Group, the launch of its United Illusions Virtual Production Studio was a chance to turn an empty space into a benchmark for immersive event design. The venue? A newly built hangar with minimal infrastructure. The objective? To showcase the company’s technological capabilities and creative vision to both the film industry and the MICE sector.
The result? A spectacular, multi-sensory experience that not only impressed attendees but also earned industry recognition—receiving the Flash Award for Best Technical Event Service of the Year, Hungary’s leading accolade for event production.
The Challenge: A Hangar with No Identity
Faced with a cavernous structure lacking any architectural features, Visual Europe Group saw potential rather than limitations. The space became a blank canvas for the team to demonstrate what is possible when cutting-edge technology meets bold event design. The goal was to inspire both film professionals eager to see the new studio in action, and event planners looking for innovative ways to elevate their own experiences.
The Concept: Designing a Multi-Sensory Journey
The creative concept revolved around designing an experience that unfolded as a continuous journey. Guests were engaged from the moment they approached the venue—guided by dramatic lighting arches placed strategically two roundabouts before the site. LED-lit gates and a digital tunnel welcomed guests into a space where projection mapping, animated surfaces, and dynamic lighting transformed the hangar into a fully immersive environment.
Rather than hosting a single focal point, the entire venue was segmented into distinct zones, each offering a different layer of engagement.
Execution: Immersion Through Technology
The transformation was executed through close collaboration between Visual Europe Group’s production, design, and technical teams. The space featured:
- An illuminated arrival zone, introducing the event with a dramatic digital portal.
- A central stage area, where choreographed light shows and performances marked the official opening.
- A demonstration zone, offering real-time presentations of the studio’s virtual production capabilities.
- An interactive showcase, where guests explored futuristic entertainment tools such as immersive LED surfaces, virtual graffiti walls, and AI-driven installations.
Outcome: Recognition and Lasting Impact
The opening event exceeded expectations, impressing over 250 attendees and reinforcing Visual Europe Group’s position at the forefront of innovative event production. By reimagining an empty hangar as a high-impact launch venue, the team proved that even the most minimal space can be transformed into a powerful storytelling platform.
The success of the event culminated in winning the Flash Award for Best Technical Event Service of the Year, underlining the company’s creative leadership and technological expertise. This case demonstrates how the future of live experiences lies in the seamless integration of space, story, and innovation.
