GERMANY – Vok Dams wins gold at the iF Design Award
The Jewish Museum Berlin and Vok Dams Berlin received
the iF communication design award 2013 in gold for the stage design of the 10-year-
anniversary celebrations of the Jewish Museum in the former Blumenhalle (flower hall)
Berlin.
The creative team of the Berlin office of Vok Dams, the agency for events and
live-marketing, developed this unique design concept in close cooperation with the
renowned architect and scenographer Boris Banozic, winner of several international
awards.
The stage was designed as a window, allowing both a view back on the museum’s
past ten years as well as a glimpse into the future. The composition of the triangular,
multimedia stage elements was inspired by the shape of the Star of David, alluding to
the future Academy of the Jewish Museum, designed by Daniel Libeskind, which thus
became an integrated component of the stage design.
This concept enthused the 13 international judges of the iF communication design
awards who awarded it one of the coveted iF gold awards. Of the 1,086 entries only 20
were allocated gold awards.
“For quite some time now, the iF design awards have been one of the internationally
most renowned design competitions worldwide.” the judging panel outlined. ”Having
started off in the 1950s as a mere product show for trade show participants, it nowadays
parades entries from 51 countries with an enormous depth of quality and the highest
possible levels of design”, recapped the experts who we part of the judging panel of the
60th iF design awards in their anniversary year.
The awards ceremony will take place in the BMW World in Munich on the 22nd of
February 2013. More than 2,000 guests from the worlds of international design, media,
politics and economy are expected to attend.
