FIFA and Saudi Arabia’s ambitious vision for an unmatched Opening Ceremony, positioning KSA as a major player in the global sports, led us to design an event to captivate a diverse global audience.
The FIFA Club World Cup 2023 is a premier football event and is entrenched in our client’s entertainment and sports diplomacy strategy.
Their main goal was to continue establishing themselves as a major event partner of the Ministry of Sports, aligning their desire to position Saudi Arabia as a major player in the global sports, tourism, and entertainment industry, with FIFA’s ambition to strengthen this tournament as one of the most important annual events in the world of football.
FIFA and Saudi Arabia’s ambitious vision for an unmatched Opening Ceremony, combined with the strict demands of football protocols, led us to design innovative scenic and technical elements. We constructed two of the largest stages ever seen at a FIFA event (16m x 10m) in the stands of the stadium, each featuring triangular LED screens and motorized wings.
To visually connect these stages, we suspended seven massive mesh screens from the stadium roof, creating 3,000 sqm of vertical video projection space for monumental tableaux and optical illusions. The pitch was covered with a 7,500 sqm projection surface, displaying custom 2D, 3D vand footage-based video content tailored to each performer’s set.
This majestic setup, along with immersive visuals and storytelling, delivered an unforgettable experience for the 50,000 in-stadium spectators and more than 80 million global viewers, making the ceremony both a technical marvel and a deeply engaging spectacle.
