UK – Renault invites public to unlock their Va Va Voom in 25th Anniversary celebration
After flaunting its style for a quarter of a century, Renault Clio celebrated its 25th anniversary with a huge installation at King’s Cross St Pancras in London.
To mark the milestone, a Renault Clio was installed within a giant birdcage, adorned with thousands of beautifully designed padlocks that unveiled lots of prizes. The striking Moulin Rouge-esque cage housed the latest Clio model and was on display on 26-27th April 2016.
Towering at over seven metres high, the unique love lock installation celebrated the brand’s French essence and design through the elegant cage and modern French culture with the bespoke padlocks, reminiscent of those seen on Parisian bridges.
In celebration of the Clio’s anniversary, passers-by were given the opportunity to unlock their Va Va Voom with 25 of the locks revealing amazing prizes, including a star prize of a trip for two to Paris, the brand’s home city. Other prizes included a day of beauty treatments at a leading French spa in the UK, a mouth-watering meal for two at Michelin star restaurant Galvin at Windows, tasty macarons from luxury Parisian tearoom Ladurée and L’Occitane beauty product vouchers. People were also encouraged to add their own Parisian inspired love locks to the sea of padlocks.
Jeremy Townsend, Communications Director, Groupe Renault UK commented: “This year marks 25 years of the Renault Clio in the UK – a massive milestone. We wanted to take this time to celebrate what makes the Clio sexy and distinct from the ordinary – its Va Va Voom – and what better way to do this than through this unique installation next to one of Britain’s biggest gateways to France”.
The birdcage itself was made from aluminium, complete with a plush red velvet swing. The public was encouraged to take snaps of the installation and share it across their social channels with the official hashtag, #Clio25.
