UK – LIVERPOOL LAUNCHES £10 MILLION FUND TO ATTRACT MAJOR EVENTS

Liverpool is giving new momentum to its international positioning strategy by announcing the creation of a £10 million fund (approximately €11.7 million) aimed at attracting major events to the city. The initiative is promoted by the Liverpool City Region Combined Authority in partnership with the Liverpool BID Company, and is designed to strengthen the destination’s competitiveness in the global meetings and events market.

The fund will be used to support the bidding and delivery of high-profile international events, including congresses, sporting events, and cultural initiatives. The goal is twofold: to generate direct economic impact for the region and to further consolidate Liverpool’s reputation as a hub for world-class events.

According to the promoters, the program represents a significant evolution in destination marketing strategies, as it enables more effective intervention during the bidding phase, which is often decisive in securing events. The resources can be allocated across multiple areas, from organizational support to marketing activities and incentives for event organizers.
