UK – £4 million fund for Glasgow 2014 cultural events

Artists, community-led groups and arts organisations can apply to receive between £20,000 and £300,000 from the Glasgow 2014 Cultural Programme Open Fund.

The money must be used to create events to complement the games, which will be the largest multi-sport event ever seen in Scotland. In a similar setup to the Cultural Olympiad, they must demonstrate a connection to the games, or a link to related events like the traditional Queen’s Baton Relay which will travel across Scotland to open the games.

David Grevemberg, chief executive of Glasgow 2014, said: “We want passion and drama off the field of play – an exciting, ambitious and accessible programme of cultural events – to become a defining feature of how we host the Commonwealth Games.”

The fund is the result of a partnership between Glasgow 2014, Creative Scotland and Glasgow Life.

Events could take place before the games or as part of Festival 2014, which will take place in Glasgow during games-time.

The deadline for applications for funding is 22 February 2013 and more details can be found on the Creative Scotland website.
