THE NETHERLANDS – THE 2025 NATO SUMMIT AND DUNCAN STUTTERHEIM AWARDED AT THE 26TH GOLDEN GIRAFFE AWARDS EDITION.
The 2025 NATO Summit, organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, was declared an “Iconic Event” on April 13th, during the award ceremony of the 26th edition of the Golden Giraffe Awards, attended by numerous guests. Ten Golden Giraffes were awarded to the World Forum The Hague, along with a new and unprecedented surprise initiative: the “People” award. This recognition was given to Duncan Stutterheim.
This year, the Golden Giraffe Awards introduced a new category structure and, for the first time, were opened to all links in the real-time communication chain. Among the 98 nominations received, the jury selected seventeen projects in seven categories.
Two golden giraffes were awarded in two categories. In the Creativity category, the golden statuettes went to XSAGA for Heel Amsterdam Danst and Playground for bol – The Festival Store & The Magazine. Stichting Steun Emma Kinderziekenhuis with Emma Live and Vermaat Group with Newcomers to Work both won in the People and Organization category.
Greater Diversity
With Vermaat as a catering company, the exhibition stand company A-Booth (with its MSD-Boutique in the Innovation category) and the consulting company Welkom Accessibility & Events (with inclusion at TwitchCon Europe in the Sustainability category), the expansion of company types among the winners is also reflected.
Event agencies were also included on the winners’ list. In addition to XSAGA and Playground in the Creativity category, there are Obsession with Defense Basecamp (Design) and OVAL with Canon #UNFREEZE. XSAGA Congresses and ABN AMRO won the Golden Giraffe in the Conversion category for the Decarbonization Summit.
Iconic Event
The 2025 NATO Summit, nominated in the Strategy category, was placed by the jury in a new category due to the numerous unique aspects of this exceptional event, and was thus the first to receive the Golden Giraffe Award as an iconic event.

The new People Award was established to recognize individuals who make an exceptional contribution to the live communication sector. People who not only strengthen the sector from within but also represent it externally: in politics, in the media, and in public debate.
The jury unanimously agreed that Duncan Stutterheim was the right person to be the first recipient of this award.
At the end of the award ceremony, it was announced that a volume will be published containing an overview of the 26th edition of the Golden Giraffe Awards. With all winners on stage and a subsequent networking reception, the 26th edition of the Golden Giraffe Awards concluded.
