SPAIN – EXPERIENTIA WINS BIG AT ANNUAL EVENTOPLUS AWARDS

The Madrid Arena once again hosted the Eventoplus Awards, gathering 1,025 professionals (a record) to celebrate excellence in events, the love of the experiential world, and the events community. 60 gems were recognised, including a Grand Prix for Last Lap that also acknowledges a segment that isn’t always taken into account but carries weight, innovates, and has an impact: esports. Experientia won the most, with 9 golds (alone or in collaboration).

Theme: duality

Templeton conceived the entire event, and Varano handled the technical production and stage management. The event’s theming followed the concept of duality. Everything stemmed from the setup: a central stage designed to bring the entire audience closer to the action, creating a dynamic play between the two sides formed by this beautiful 16x5m stage created by Babalu.

The audience was split in two, with hosts Marcos Canas and Berta Collado pitting the angels on one side against the demons on the other. This duality permeated the entire event, with white tablecloths on one side and black on the other, and lighting and background visuals evoking the angelic on one side and the demonic on the other. The entire technical setup was executed by Fluge (visuals, lights, sound) with live production and streaming handled by Enbex, alongside video support from a Umiles drone providing an overhead perspective.

The central stage connected to a secondary side stage (also by Babalu), where the Banda Salvaje entertained throughout the event with riffs and songs. A dynamic format that allowed the 20 awarded categories, as well as the Grand Prix and the jury’s special mention, to be presented in less than an hour and a half.

The main sponsors of the event were Meliá Hotels International and Fever, an increasingly important player in events—both as a distributor and as a creator of experiences and shows that provide content for events. Minor Hotels, Parques Reunidos, Santander Convention Bureau (whose mayor, Gema Igual, presented two awards), Tenerife Convention Bureau, and, internationally, Visit Centro de Portugal and Visit Costa Rica supported the categories.

This was followed by the traditional group photo with all the winners (gold, silver, bronze), leading into the waiters’ performance that kicked off the dinner. Uzalacain served a great coordinated dinner for these 1,000+ guests, supported by Cashmere Decoración for decorative elements and table linens. The culinary experience was paired with Codorniu cava and cocktails from Gades Fusion. After dinner, the rock band Grupo Salvaje got many attendees dancing while others enjoyed a cocktail until the doors closed at 02:00.
