SPAIN – Acciona Producciones y Diseño debuts in Kuwait with two museums on the history and nature of the country

Remembrance Museum, together with the Habitat Museum are located in Kuwait’s Al Shaeed Park and have a total exhibition area in excess of 3,400 m². APD is responsible for their design development and museographic implementation.

ACCIONAAcciona Producciones y Diseño has carried out the design development and museographic implementation of the Remembrance and Habitat Museums, the company’s first project in Kuwait; the museums showcase the history of the country and its natural resources and ecosystems in a permanent exhibition with a total surface area of over 3,400 m².

APD, based on the design by the US firm Ralph Appelbaum Associates (RAA), has introduced technological innovations to these museums to create interactive and educational environments, dominated by cutting edge audio-visual resources such as large format screens, immersive audio-visual presentations and hyper-realist recreations.

The museums are located within the Al-Shaheed Park, a new natural leisure and cultural centre that is part of the “green belt” connecting old Kuwait City with the new areas of urban development. On February 24th, His Highness the Prime Minister of Kuwait, Sheikh Jaber Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, visited the Remembrance Museum, in the light of the National Day of the Martyr’s families.

In the last few years, Acciona Producciones y Diseño has significantly increased its activity in the Middle East, with emblematic projects in Qatar and Oman. In Qatar, they include the recently opened Heritage Houses in Msheireb Downtown Doha and the work carried out at the Orientalist Museum and the Museum of Islamic Art, where the company has designed and implemented several exhibitions. In Oman, APD was selected by the government to carry out the exhibition fit-out works of the National Museum of Oman, the agency’s largest project in the Gulf region.
