LITHUANIA – New event for the Baltic region

Aiming to accelerate the meetings industry business development in Lithuania and whole Baltic Sea Region, Vilnius Convention Bureau took the initiative to join regional forces and launched the first regional exhibition for meetings, events and incentives. It took place in Vilnius on 13 – 14 February 2013 at LITEXPO, the biggest and the most modern exhibition and congress centre in the Baltics and one of the main event’s partners, Paul Kennedy MBE, was appointed as the event‘s strategic advisor.

The exhibition, titled Convene, will be an annual two-day event and this year it accommodated 120+ fully hosted senior buyers from whole Europe. Up to 100 exhibitors including convention bureaux, hotels, conference centres, special venues, DMCs, PCOs, specialist suppliers from Lithuania and six other countries of the region (Latvia, Estonia, Poland, Finland, Sweden, Russia) showcased their meeting products and services. The event was also be supported by a major professional education programme and a series of high quality business networking events.

Jolanta Beniuliene, Director of Vilnius Convention Bureau said, “The global meetings industry business is changing. Regional cooperation has become increasingly important. We need to acknowledge that the Baltic Sea Region is still ‘undiscovered’ and has a lot to offer. Launching Convene, we gave the opportunity for international buyers to learn about the impressive range of meeting facilities on offer in this culturally rich and diverse region”.
