ITALY – Vogue Italia and Cosmoprof launch ‘Beauty in Vogue Night’

Beauty in Vogue Night will make its debut on March 9th in Bologna. This event in the city and for the city is organised jointly by Vogue Italia and Cosmoprof Worldwide Bologna – the massive beauty exhibition promoted by BolognaFiere – and is sponsored by the City and District of Bologna.

Beauty in Vogue Night is inspired by the success of Vogue Fashion’s Night Out, a landmark occasion in the fashion world which was launched by the international editions of Vogue in 2009 and has witnessed, year after year, a phenomenal turnout of millions of shopping lovers all over the world.

Beauty in Vogue Night brings the spirit of fashion to the world of cosmetics and wellness. The event will be staged in the streets of the “Quadrilatero” in the city centre around Piazza Maggiore, between via D’Azeglio, via Farini, via Castiglione and via Rizzoli, and in Galleria Cavour. Sponsorship by the City and District of Bologna and the backing of Ascom/Confcommercio mean that the shops in these streets can stay open until 10.00pm in addition to the many activities organised by Vogue Italia and Cosmoprof. The occasion is not dedicated solely to lovers of the beauty world: everybody will have the opportunity to experience the city in a completely different light and enjoy the presentations and special displays.

The Archiginnasio Library will be hosting a photographic exhibition where the most iconic covers of Vogue Italia will take visitors on a long journey through the world of beauty.

To mark the occasion of this “beauty evening”, the many brands participating in Beauty in Vogue Night will be producing limited edition objects. Proceeds from the sales will go to the disaster relief fund for the areas hit by the earthquake in Emilia Romagna, in particular the town of Crevalcore. This marks Vogue’s ongoing support of these areas: the 2012 edition of Vogue Fashion’s Night Out raised 170,000 euros thanks to sales in Milan, Rome and Florence, where 1,300 retail outlets and 300,000 people took part in the event. This money is being used to fund initiatives to support children and teenagers, in particular refurbishing the school complex in the town of Finale, buying equipment for the hospital’s paediatric department in Carpi, including an ultrasound machine for antenatal scans, and opening a new section in the Sergio Neri infants school and developing the “School open for a new beginning” project in the F Montanari middle school in the town of Mirandola. 70,000 euros were also raised to support earthquake victims during Convivio 2012 (an event, sponsored by Franca Sozzani since 1998, which combines socially responsible shopping and the fight against indifference to HIV) by funding health services for elderly people in Mirandola.

“We are very happy to stage this inaugural event in the city of Bologna, which is renowned for its many initiatives involving art, culture and beauty. We hope that Beauty in Vogue Night, with the support of Cosmoprof and BolognaFiere, will be an evening of collective celebration,” comments Franca Sozzani, editor-in-chief of Vogue Italia. “We also hope that our support will continue to help the earthquake victims, who have responded with strength, dignity and determination to the difficult situations facing them after the quake.”

“It is an honour and a source of great satisfaction for BolognaFiere,” says Duccio Campagnoli, President of the BolognaFiere Group, “to see our Cosmoprof, in partnership with Vogue Italia, playing a part in one of the most prestigious initiatives in the fashion world, and to be able to bring the very first Beauty in Vogue Night to Bologna. Our partnership with Vogue is extremely important to us. BolognaFiere has sponsored renewed investment in Cosmoprof to strengthen its position as the leading beauty and wellness fair in the world and now the city itself is also opening up with this incredible event which will bring it great prestige both in Italy and on an international level.”

The event’s dedicated website, has been set up and the guidelines for taking part in the occasion have been sent to all the retail outlets in the selected streets. Participation in Beauty in Vogue Night is free of charge and by registering you will be placed on a mailing list to receive updates and will be included in the online guide to accredited BIVN stores, which can be viewed on the vogue.it and cosmoprof.it websites and in the March edition of Vogue Italia.

On March 9th the evening will begin with cocktails, provided by Campari, at the photographic exhibition at the Archiginnasio Library. In corners specially created for the occasion the multimedia retailer QVC will be selling beauty boxes containing the event’s official T-shirt and a set of beauty products, with part of the proceeds going to the earthquake victims fund. And Vivident Xylit sugar-free chewing gum will make sure that Beauty in Vogue Night has an “official smile”.
