ITALY – MILAN AND SALONE DEL MOBILE: FROM THE OPENING AT TEATRO ALLA SCALA TO THE CITY-WIDE EVENTS IGNITING THE METROPOLIS. THE FIRST DESIGN WHITE NIGHT DEBUTS WITH OVER 50 GUIDED TOURS AND TALKS

The flagship event of Milan’s calendar is revving its engines, ready to welcome thousands of tourists and visitors with a rich program of events spread across the city, extending far beyond the Rho Fiera pavilions.

Once again this year, Salone del Mobile engages in a dialogue with Milan. For the sixth consecutive year, following tradition, the official opening night of the Exhibition will be celebrated at Teatro alla Scala with a concert by the Filarmonica della Scala, conducted by Michele Mariotti. This event reaffirms the prestigious collaboration with the Teatro alla Scala Foundation.

On April 24, Common Archive – La Notte Bianca del Progetto (Design White Night) — an initiative curated by the Salone del Mobile.Milano Observatory under the patronage of the Lombardy Region and the Municipality of Milan — will bring a city-wide event to life. For one evening, and for the first time together, Milan’s historical design and architecture archives will open to the public with an agenda of over 50 guided tours and talks, highlighting a wealth of knowledge that belongs to the city but speaks to the world.

From April 17 to 26, the Design Kiosk returns to Piazza della Scala with a program of conversations dedicated to new independent publishing, curated by Reading Room. Meanwhile, in Piazza Sant’Eustorgio, a newsstand dedicated to the Exhibition will serve as the starting point for an urban itinerary designed by Bianca Felicori, founder of Forgotten Architecture, which passes through five emblematic 20th-century buildings. Finally, Salone also introduces Salone in the City, a new paper and digital guide dedicated to Milan.

“Salone del Mobile is undoubtedly the event that best reflects the drive for innovation, creativity, resourcefulness, and the desire to find practical solutions to contemporary challenges that animate our city. It is also thanks to the Salone that Milan is an authoritative and established international benchmark for the design sector. Thanks to the quality of the proposals, projects, and products showcased every year at the fairgrounds, alongside installations, events, and networking moments in the city, the Salone activates and attracts the warm participation of a curious, dynamic, and proactive community of creatives, designers, architects, students, and global design industry professionals. We are certain that this year, Milan will once again welcome and spread the enthusiasm that the 64th edition of Salone del Mobile brings to the city,” commented the Mayor of Milan, Giuseppe Sala.

“One of the most anticipated and attended appointments for our Region is approaching,” concluded Attilio Fontana, President of the Lombardy Region. “The 2026 edition of Salone del Mobile features numerous innovations and strategic initiatives: from the integration of the contract sector to the rich cultural program and international connections. Milan and Lombardy offer an extraordinary showcase for our design tradition and the spirit of ingenuity emanating from our territories. An emblem of Made in Italy capable of evolving and anticipating trends, bolstered by one of the most brilliant productive and creative fabrics in the world.”

This year, the ICE Agency has again provided significant support to accompany Salone del Mobile.Milano on international missions. In April, ICE’s commitment will be renewed with the goal of bringing the largest number of qualified foreign operators from around the world to Milan, who will be welcomed in the IBL — International Business Lounge.

For the 2026 edition, the partners alongside Salone include: Intesa Sanpaolo, institutional partner since 2017, supporting the Italian furniture and design sector and promoting sustainable growth for supply chain companies; Panerai (Official Time Keeper), K-WAY, Ca’ del Bosco, S.Bernardo, illycaffè, Maserati, Sigma, Messika, Trenord, OVS, Radio Deejay, Radio Capital, and m2o.

Frecciarossa will be the official train of this edition.
