GERMANY – CONGRESS MESSE INNSBRUCK RECERTIFIED WITH GREEN GLOBE
Congress und Messe Innsbruck GmbH (CMI) has been awarded the internationally recognized Green Globe certification for the fourth consecutive time in 2025. This recertification sends a strong signal of CMI’s consistent commitment to ecological, social, and economic sustainability — across all three of its venues: Congress Innsbruck, Messe Innsbruck, and congresspark igls.
The Green Globe standard is one of the world’s leading sustainability certifications in the events and tourism industry. Each year, over 40 criteria are evaluated across the categories of “Sustainable Management,” “Social/Economic,” “Cultural Heritage,” and “Environment.” CMI Managing Director Christian Mayerhofer views the award as confirmation of the company’s continuous efforts: “The Green Globe certification is a recognition of our sustainable planning and corresponding measures. As a flagship operator among Tyrol’s event venues, we aim to actively contribute to resource-efficient and forward-thinking business practices.”
Sustainability with Structure and Vision
At the heart of the sustainability strategy are energy production, efficiency, waste reduction, and regional value creation. Deep groundwater wells at the Congress Innsbruck and Messe Innsbruck sites supply a significant portion of the heating and cooling needs. This is complemented by a thermal solar system at congresspark igls. Smart building control systems ensure the optimal use of energy. Ongoing cooperation with regional partners and a carefully designed waste management system also contribute to resource conservation.
Another step toward climate neutrality is already in the works: a new concept to utilize additional renewable energy sources is currently being developed. In addition, collaboration with local public transport providers enables visitors of public trade fairs to travel to and from events free of charge using public transport.

With its Green Globe certification, the Austrian Eco-Label for “Green Meetings & Green Events,” and recognition as a “Green Location,” Congress Messe Innsbruck offers ideal conditions for sustainable events. Organizers benefit on multiple levels: CMI is authorized to carry out Green Meeting and Event certifications in-house — quickly, efficiently, and from a single source.
Since 2024, Congress Messe Innsbruck has also been a certified Climate Alliance business, further underscoring its pioneering role in sustainable event management.
