DENMARK – FRESH14 and European Sustainable Events Conference join forces in Copenhagen
FRESH and ESEC will offer event professionals from across the world a unique single stop solution to increase their skills and contacts in strategic meeting design and sustainable event planning.
FRESH is a two-day conference that refreshes conferences, meetings and events and increases their effectiveness. By introducing and demonstrating the latest techniques, tools and knowledge it provides meeting planners, meeting designers, meeting producers and meeting owners applicable improvement. All presentations, room layouts, the venue, the staging, the processes, the food… is new, innovative, fun or invigorating. The theme of FRESH14 is Present People and in focus will be discussions on the power of meetings and maximizing human interaction in meetings.
Maarten Vanneste, CEO of the Meetings Support Institute and Chair of the FRESH Conference, said: “We are delighted to return to Copenhagen and the Crowne Plaza Copenhagen Towers. The city and venue are leaders in sustainability and meeting design and provides the perfect creative environment and inspiration for our innovative and unique conferences”.
The European Sustainable Events Conference (ESEC) hosted annually by the Green Meeting Industry Council (GMIC) brings together professionals from all corners of the meetings and events industry to debate how to integrate sustainability into the entire life-cycle of event organization.
The 2014 theme is Building Bridges and will link to the FRESH theme by showing how people through collaboration create ideas that enable new sustainability strategies that inspire powerful brand experiences, which create business value.
Michael Luehrs, president of the GMIC said: “For years, the GMIC has aspired to connect passionate people to create better events. For events to be effective, sustainability is a core component of meeting design. GMIC sees the collaboration with Copenhagen and the FRESH conference as an exciting opportunity to bring together positive energy from across the events world to inspire people to design and deliver better, more sustainable events and communities”.
The two events will be organized back to back as a case study on how to implement more effective and sustainable events. The programs of the events will align and support each other, sharing speakers, audiovisuals, technology and meeting spaces. As an example the ESEC opening session and reception on the 28th will be the FRESH14 closing session and drinks.
This unique collaboration will be supported by the Convention Bureau – Wonderful Copenhagen, and the national tourism organization – VisitDenmark. The host city, Copenhagen is a frontrunner of eco-innovation, sustainable meetings management and meetings design. In 2003 the Danish Meetings Industry developed its own concept for meeting design entitled Meetovation, which has radically changed how meetings are organised in Denmark. In 2008 the Danish Meetings Industry created a collaborative initiative which has developed capacity resulting in Copenhagen being regarded as the Capital of Sustainable Meetings. The Danish Government has twice received the prestigious IMEX-GMIC Green Meeting award: for the COP15 UN Climate Change Conference and the 2012 European Union Presidency.
