CZECH REPUBLIC – SXS develops European presence working with Skoda in Prague
Skoda’s European Events Agency was asked to source a highly specialised drape reveal concept at short notice and SXS’ Special Projects team was called upon.
The event was the international launch of Skoda’s new showroom design. Three full-scale showrooms were constructed in an airport
distribution warehouse at Prague Airport. In the centre of the space there was a large conference and presentation area.
As a key requirement was to deliver internal communications prior to showcasing the new showrooms, the conference space had to be ‘boxed-in’ so that guests were not aware of the large showrooms around them.
Traditional reveal systems such as track-systems and kabuki drapes were not practical as the client wanted the drapes to give the
impression of disappearing almost instantly, so SXS installed a custom ‘reefer drape’ system whereby the drapes lifted overhead.
A total of 800 square metres of drapes were provided, and they could be lifted overhead and out of view in less than a second.
“I love a challenge” says Project Manager Johnny Palmer, “from a technical perspective this was a typical project for us, but with a lead time of less than 48 hours it certainly was a challenge. Our full-time staff, close relationships with suppliers of custom drapes and considerable stock holding ensured that we could deliver this project on time, in full and to the exact brief.”
