BELGIUM – BRUSSELS INVESTS IN MICE AND GREEN STRATEGIES

Brussels has announced a series of developments that strengthen the city’s position in the MICE sector, with a strong focus on sustainability. Six new hotels have earned the Green Key certification, an international eco-label recognizing tourism businesses committed to responsible practices. The properties are Cardo Brussels, Liman Hotel, Mix Brussels, Ibis Brussels Off Grand-Place, Novotel Brussels Off Grand-Place, and Aparthotels Adagio, offering over 1,200 rooms combined, with event spaces ranging from 220 m² at Liman Hotel to 2,000 m² at Cardo Brussels.

Brussels is consolidating its position in MICE by focusing on quality, innovation, and sustainability. The spread of Green Key certifications demonstrates the city’s commitment to a responsible hospitality model that not only meets the needs of organizers and event planners, but also opens up opportunities for leisure tourism, in line with the growing awareness of travelers and new generations,” comments Ursula Jone Gandini, Director Italy, Visit Brussels.

There are also new event venues, starting with Quai 20, a contemporary complex distinguished by refined design, original furnishings, and striking use of light. Perfectly connected to public transport, it offers several modular spaces and a panoramic terrace overlooking the Canal that runs through Brussels. The main hall measures 465 m² and can host up to 400 people, while the complex’s total capacity is 1,800.

Also noteworthy is the Jules Verne Center in the Forest district, whose meeting rooms feature a retro-futurist aesthetic inspired by the science fiction pioneer. Beginning this year, the venue also offers the option to pair events with visits to ready-made thematic exhibitions, such as “Alice Guy’s Posters,” dedicated to one of the first female directors in cinema history, and “Jules Verne’s Posters,” featuring works inspired by various film adaptations of Jules Verne’s literature.
