BELGIUM – A TURNING POINT FOR THE EVENT SECTOR: THE EUROPEAN BENCHMARK FOR EVENT IMPACT IS HERE!

BELGIUM – A TURNING POINT FOR THE EVENT SECTOR: THE EUROPEAN BENCHMARK FOR EVENT IMPACT IS HERE!

My Impact Tool presents a unique benchmark on the environmental and social impact of events in Europe. Based on concrete data from 226 events held in 15 countries with over 475,000 attendees, this benchmark is a practical tool that helps event professionals understand, compare, and improve their sustainability practices — driving real change.

What Makes It Unique?
01 Based on real data, not assumptions.
02 Includes all aspects of an event, including mobility.
03 Designed for practical use, not just theoretical compliance.
04 Goes beyond CO2 emissions: includes inclusion, biodiversity, and circularity.

Key Figures:

  • 9x more CO2 emissions than the Paris Agreement target
  • 46% of events increase global pollution
  • 80% reduction in CO2 emissions when offering a vegetarian menu
  • 5x more CO2 emissions for international events compared to national ones
  • 42% of events claim to be accessible to all
  • 50% of emissions come from mobility (teams, audiences, transport of equipment, etc.), up to 70% for international events

The Good News?
Progress is being made — particularly in mobility, circularity, and the SDGs. This benchmark allows us to track that evolution and focus our efforts. And this is just the beginning!

“This sector is creative, resilient, and ready to evolve its practices,” says the My Impact Tool team, “but to make better choices, we need better benchmarks. That’s exactly why this benchmark exists.”

Why Now?
Because sustainability is no longer optional. With new regulations like the CSRD (Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive) coming into force, agencies, brands, and organizers are now required to measure their impact and demonstrate progress.

Who Are We?
My Impact Tool is a European platform, designed by and for event professionals. It allows you to measure the ecological and social footprint of your events: CO2 emissions, inclusion, biodiversity, accessibility… everything is considered.

Supported by the EACA (European Association of Communications Agencies), the EC (Confederation of Events), and the ACC (Association of Communication Companies), this tool was designed to reflect real-world conditions and guide practical decisions — not just produce numerical reports.

Let’s organize more responsible events — thanks to better data.
