Bea World Advisory Board meets in the Azores to share “volcanic ideas”

The fifth annual meeting of the Advisory Board of Bea World Festival 2018, organised by ADC Group with the support of the Azores Tourism Board and Apecate, took place from March 3 to 5 in São Miguel, the largest island of the Azores archipelago.

The meeting was very rich in ideas and content, which emerged from a fruitful brainstorming session among the most influential and brightest minds of the international event industry. The aim was to improve the format of the Bea World Festival, grant it worldwide appeal and recognition, and define the sector’s trends and most current topics to deliver a state of the art learning programme.

Another of the meeting’s goals was to propose ideas for the Awards ceremony that will take place during the Bea World Festival in the Portuguese city of Coimbra between November 21 and 24, 2018. The Festival, a global event for the second year running and once again organised in collaboration with Apecate, will include the Jury sessions of the 13th edition of the Best Event Awards, as well as keynotes, breakout sessions and workshops reserved to the meeting industry.

Over 30 representatives of multinational corporations, events associations and trade media met in the Azores to further boost the Festival. The morning session got underway with greetings from Marta Guerreiro, Azores’ regional secretary for Energy, Environment and Tourism. Salvatore Sagone, president of ADC Group, was present as usual to do the honours and remind everyone of the impressive results of Bea World Festival 2017. He also put forward goals, vision, strategy and developments for the 2018 event, assisted by Ilka Dzeik, strategic advisor Bea World Festival & senior partner Event ROI Institute, Ilaria Granato, business development manager Bea World Festival and Brenda Debiasio Romeo, project manager Bea World Festival.

The advisory board got into the heart of the matter with the division of participants into four groups, each of which had the task of addressing a specific topic. The first, Global Promotion, focused on increasing global coverage of the event and corporate engagement. By contrast, Content Strategy collected suggestions for topics, speakers to invite and pre-event activities. The Participants Experience group focused on how to create a rewarding consumer experience and an appealing awards ceremony for both winners and participants.

Lastly, the Best Location Awards group was responsible for determining categories, registration procedure and members of the jury for the new award reserved to event venues.

Each group then illustrated their main findings during the plenary session, giving every participant the opportunity to express their opinion. On a more recreational note, the meeting gave everyone the opportunity to discover the beauty of São Miguel Island and the services it can offer to those who choose the archipelago for their events.

In order to ascertain such beauty first-hand, as well as tasting the islands’ cuisine, the Azores Tourist Office organised a series of amazing activities during the 2-day meeting, to be enjoyed by all during their free time.

For more news and surprises, we shall be waiting for you at the next Bea World Festival, which will take place in Coimbra from November 21 to 24, 2018.
