AUSTRIA – Congress city Vienna takes 3rd place worldwide in UIA statistics

Vienna had already taken the 3rd place at the ICCA (International Congress and Convention Association), whose 2013 ranking placed it on the third step of the winners podium as one of the world’s most sought-after destinations for international congresses, and now the city has also ranked third in the UIA (Union of International Associations statistics. In this way, Vienna has been able to retain its 2012 ranking.

In 2013 no fewer than 318 of Vienna’s international congresses met the UIA ranking criteria, which meant third place in the listing headed by Singapore (994). Second place was taken by Brussels (436), and Seoul came after Vienna in 4th place (242). They are followed by Tokyo (228), Barcelona (195) and Paris (180), Madrid (165), Busan (148) and London (144).

In the countries ranking, Austria came in 8th place with 398 events. Singapore (see above) once again headed this ranking, followed by the USA (799), South Korea (635), Japan (588), Belgium and Spain (both 505), Germany (428) and France (408). The United Kingdom also ranked in the top 10 after Austria with 349 events.
