PORTUGAL – EDP Employee Meetings: ‘EDP One, together for better energy’

7,000 employees of the EDP Group in Portugal met at the Meo Arena, in Lisbon, to celebrate EDP’s energy. Innovative augmented reality and a huge 360º screen, the largest circular projection in Europe,  were used to transport the employees to the EDP world.

EDPEDP ONE: the energy that unites us” was the slogan for three days filled with reunions, alignment and lots of fun. The event was designed to embrace the three-dimensionality of this concept. All the scenery was designed to make all employees to feel as if they were ONE and experience total immersion in the EDP world.

A 360º screen, 300 m long and 10 m high, was erected at the MEO Arena in Lisbon. All the content, videos and presentations were designed and projected as if they were a single 300 m long item, giving the feeling of being enveloped and immersed in the video content. It was the largest circular projection in Europe, with content designed and adapted for its size. The surround system was high-impact due to its scale and provided a unique experience for the audience.

Innovative augmented reality was used to transport the employees to the EDP world. The audience was fascinated by three-dimensional images that appeared on stage and interacted with the speaker. This was the environment in which the company’s results and strategic business plan for the following year were presented.

A sit-down lunch was served after the work session, followed by a show starring the Portuguese artists Áurea, Ala dos Namorados and Raquel Tavares, among others.

This is the event most valued by EDP employees. A satisfaction survey conducted after the event showed an overall appreciation score of 99% among the participants.

Desafio Global Ativism helped organise the event, which took eight months to prepare and involved 450 people, 66 speakers, 60,000 watts, 90% low-consumption led lighting, and a 3,000 m2 screen, among other large figures.
